Learn how to feel empowered to advocate for what you need!
At this webinar, co-facilitators Todd London and Emily Mann led panelists Nikkole Salter (actress and playwright), Jonathan McCrory (Artistic Director of National Black Theatre), and Jonathan Silverstein (Artistic Director of Keen Company) in a conversation on how dramatists can feel emboldened to ask for what they need, enabling them to champion practices of equity and inclusion in their own collaborations with theatre companies. Using The Art of Negotiating Theatre Contracts guide as a springboard, the participants shared personal anecdotes of tricky, diversity-related conversations/experiences they've had with collaborators and offered advice on how to navigate those situations successfully.
This event was part of a series of webinars that were presented in tandem with the release of the Dramatists Guild's new Inclusion Rider. This rider is intended to be a resource to support all dramatists and producers who have a desire to exercise these principles in the hiring of personnel involved in their productions.
