Fayetteville, AR – TheatreSquared (Robert Ford, Artistic Director and co-founder) will receive a special award at the 66th Obie Awards tonight, Monday, February 27, 2023, at Terminal 5 in New York, NY. The recognition, a Special Citation for Digital+Virtual+Hybrid Production for TheatreSquared’s pioneering virtual co-production of Russian Troll Farm by Sarah Gancher, is the first Obie awarded to an Arkansas theatre.

TheatreSquared supported Gancher in developing her play at the all-virtual June 2020 Arkansas New Play Festival, months after in-person performances came to an indefinite halt. In October of the same year, the theatre joined forces with Theater Works Hartford, in association with The Civilians, to co-produce Russian Troll Farm’s world premiere. The production was directed by Jared Mezzocchi and Elizabeth Williamson. The play will receive a live, in-person production beginning this week with the same directing team at Geva Theatre Center in New York.
