
Aspen, CO – Theatre Aspen has announced the recipients of its inaugural grants from the Solo Flights Project Advancement Fund: Avaaz by Michael Shayan and Sally: A Solo Play by Sandra Seaton. Shayan and Seaton, whose plays were presented at the 2022 Solo Flights Festival September 10 - 15, 2022, will each receive a $10,000 grant to support the further development of their respective works.
“We are very proud of all the plays in this year’s festival and hope the work done at Theatre Aspen will help them have long and successful lives,” said Producing Director Jed Bernstein in a statement. “We want to especially congratulate Avaaz and Sally: A Solo Play on being the first-ever grantees from our Project Advancement Fund.”
Solo Flights is an annual week-long festival of one-person shows presented in the early stages of their development. Other works in this year’s festival included Sparrows at the Bar by DG member Mike DiSalvo, Sidekicked by Kim Powers, Low Expectations by Michael Gaston, and Malone Alone! a special concert written and performed by Guild member Beth Malone.
Now in its fourth year, the Solo Flights Festival has brought a variety of diverse works and celebrated actors and directors to Theatre Aspen.
