For the past decade, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat has provided weeklong residencies for musical theatre writers to develop their musicals in the Hudson Valley.
Musicals developed in Rhinebeck have received productions at the Public Theater, Barrington Stage, Paper Mill Playhouse, Second Stage Theatre, and Playwrights Horizons. All costs are covered by contributions including an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, The ASCAP Foundation Bart Howard Fund, and The Noël Coward Foundation, and hundreds of individual donors. Thanks to them, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat provides each writing team with housing, food, equipment, travel costs, a $600 stipend, and a peer advisor who will provide dramaturgical guidance.
For those who submit their application before February 18th at 6:00pm EST, there is no fee.
For those who submit their application between February 18th at 6:01pm EST and the final deadline of February 25th at 6:00pm EST, there is a $25 application fee. Those in need of financial assistance regarding the application fee may email firstname.lastname@example.org. Recipients of this year's residencies will be announced in mid-May.
