DG member STEPHANIE ALISON WALKER has been named the recipient of the 2019 Francesca Primus Prize for her play The Madres, which received a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere in 2018. Awarded by the American Theatre Critics Association since 2002, the Primus Prize is given annually to celebrate the work of an emerging female playwright. It is named in memory of dramatist, theatre critic, and ATCA member Francesca Primus.

The Madres received its Rolling World Premiere productions at Teatro Vista in Chicago, IL; Skylight Theatre Company in Los Angeles, CA; Moxie Theatre in San Diego, CA; and Shrewd Productions in Austin, TX. Finalists for the 2019 Primus Prize included DG members JENNIFER BARCLAY for her play Ripe Frenzy and IFA BAYEZA for her play Benevolence.
