NEWS: Jeff Awards Announces 2020 Equity Nominees, Non-Equity Nominees & Recipients

The Jeff Awards have been presented annually since 1968 to honor achievement in Chicago theatre, with the organization adding a Non-Equity Wing to their awards in 1973. DG members nominated for the Jeff Awards’ 2020 Libby Adler Mages Award for New Work include LEE EDWARD COLSTON II for The First Deep Breath at Victory Gardens Theater; LOY A. WEBB for His Shadow at 16th Street TheaterFOUAD TEYMOUR for Twice, Thrice, Frice… at Silk Road Rising in association with International Voices Project; STEVEN DIETZ for How A Boy Falls at Northlight Theatre; LAUREN GUNDERSON and Margot Melcon for The Wickhams: Chrismtas at Pemberley at Northlight Theatre; GORDON GREENBERG and STEVE ROSEN, Michael Mahler and Alan Schmuckler for The Secret of My Success at Paramount Theatre; and DOUGLAS POST for Howards End at Remy Bumppo Theatre Company. Lee Edward Colson II’s The First Deep Breath also received a nomination for the Jeff Equity Award for Production - Play - Large. 

     DG members nominated for Production - Play - Midsize include The Leopard Play, or Sad Songs for Lost Boys by ISAAC GOMEZ at Steep Theatre CompanySheepdog by KEVIN ARTIGUE at Shattered Globe Theatre; and His Shadow by LOY A. WEBB at 16th Street Theater.

     Nominees for the Jeff Non-Equity New Work Award include DG members LARRY TODD COUSINEAU and CINDY O’CONNOR for All That He Was at Pride Films and Plays; KENNETH LIN for Life on Paper at Jackalope Theatre Company; and MATT FOSS for All Quiet on the Western Front at Red Tape Theatre

     Nominees for Non-Equity Production - Play include The Undeniable Sound of Right Now by LAURA EASON at Raven TheatreAll Quiet on the Western Front by MATT FOSS at Red Tape Theatre; and Mlima’s Tale by LYNN NOTTAGE at Griffin Theatre Company.
