NEWS: Elizabeth Van Dyke Named as New AD of New Federal Theatre

Woodie King, Jr., Producting Director of the New Federal Theatre, has announced that DG member ELIZABETH VAN DYKE will be the theatre's new Artistic Director. In addition to her work with NFT, Van Dyke co-founded Ensemble Studio Theatre's Going to the River, a program dedicated to developing the work of female playwrights of color, in 1999. 

     The playwright, acrtress, director, and producer's goals as Artistic Director include "ensuring New Federal Theatre is involved in dialogues, initiatives, and coverage, locally, nationally, and that New Federal Theatre is recognized and valued for its artistry and longevity.”

     She added, "it's exciting and humbling to be trusted with a 50 year-old institution by its founder."

     Since its founding in 1970, New Federal Theatre has set forth its mission "to integrate artists of color and women into the mainstream of American theatre."
