I took a huge step a year ago. I left a job I passionately loved for another passion I loved as much, if not more. For 30 years I’d worked with playwrights either through teaching at NYU, teaching at the Kennedy Center every summer, advocating for writers in an on-line blog or being the Executive Director of Creative Affairs for the Dramatists Guild. Sadly, what I didn’t do, with any regularity, was the very thing I lectured about or preached on or advised a friend about over coffee: to live my life as a writer who has something important to say in the world with a specific kind of talent for saying it (playwriting).
