Mike Lew: Why I Joined the Guild
What I write is deeply rooted in my cultures as a Seminole and Mvskoke woman and inspired by my family, my ancestors, and my peoples and what they need me to write at any given time as my playwriting is advocacy-first. With that, all of my writing is in direct response to a particular event, moment, or movement as the motivation to write only comes once something (or someone) ignites my playwriting process. I think back to when I wrote Bound in the fall of 2018.
