Less than three months ago we were heading into a fresh theater season with multiple new work productions. Now we hope the quarantine delays won’t inhibit these performances from occurring later in the year. I am curious what impacts our local theatres and dramatists will experience as they navigate the new uncertainties of public gatherings and financial losses from canceled performances. As a nurse in the hospital treating patients with COVID 19, I’ve witnessed the harsher elements of this season, as well as success in avoiding exposure. In some ways I’ve appreciated the time to write and the lack of guilt in just staying home. Even with the trepidation of exposure, I feel a shift will occur soon under reasonable precautions. Hopefully in the not too distant future, we can share our work in person again and reconnect with the magic of live theatre and our fellow dramatists. Y’all stay safe until then!
