The Great Plains Theatre Commons has announced the fourteen playwrights who will be featured in their 2022 New Play Conference. Now in its sixteenth year, the conference will be hosted by Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE. The chosen playwrights, who were selected from over 600 submissions, will receive a staged reading of their play. Among this year’s playwrights are Guild members Tina Esper, Daniel Hurewitz, Shannon TL Kearns, Jennifer Maisel, Gloria Majule, Kira Rockwell, Steven Strafford, and Caity-Shea Violette.

Since its inception in 2006, GPTC has brought together playwrights and theatre artists to develop new works at the New Play Conference each spring. The conference is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Nebraska Arts Council, Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and Humanities Nebraska. GPTC’s mission is to strengthen community by supporting the creation of diverse new stories.
