Gina Femia has been announced as the recipient of the 2022 Otis Guernsey New Voices in the American Theatre Award, which recognizes substantial early contributions to the contemporary American stage. The award, which is given by the William Inge Center for the Arts, was presented to Femia at the William Inge Festival this spring.
Otis L. Guernsey, Jr. was an acclaimed theatre writer, scholar, first editor of The Dramatists Guild Quarterly, and frequent attendee of the William Inge Festival. He was the editor of the annual Best Plays volumes for over three decades and was inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame in 2000. Because Mr. Guernsey was a champion of new plays and was instrumental in creating the Inge Festival’s New Voices Award, the Inge Festival added his name to the award as an appreciation for his contribution to the theatre and to new works.
