With its mission to present innovative performances, offer educational opportunities, and champion connection through storytelling, the Garry Marshall Theatre is interested in new works that are uniquely theatrical, authentically voiced, and have a strong point of view. The 2022 New Works Festival will present five new plays in virtual readings to support the development process of the playwright.

The finalists for the 2022 New Works Festival are Lily Abha Cratsley, ABCD; Christian St. Croix, We Are the Forgotten Beasts; Ally Lardner, Driving Lessens; Daniel A. Olivas, Waiting for Godínez; and Donna Kaz, The Docent.

The festival will present its five finalist playwrights in livestream virtual readings Sept 23-25, 2022. Each of the selected scripts will be paired with a Los Angeles director and actors for a virtual, concert-style reading. A moderated Q & A with the audience, playwright, director, and producers will follow each virtual presentation. A small honorarium will be awarded to the selected finalists.
