“What is a theatre season? When does it begin? When does it end?”
I asked Chris Boneau, co-founder of theatrical press agency Boneau/Bryan-Brown, these questions in a short interview for our 2016 Season in Review issue. It was an informative and interesting conversation that boils down to two answers: “It’s complicated” and “It depends.”
Some regional theatres’ seasons mirror the school year, some the calendar year, some are summer seasons. Off-Broadway operates by its own idiosyncratic set of ever-changing dates, and the Broadway season follows the Broadway League’s fiscal year.
