Diana Burbano: Working with a Dramaturg
Diana Burbano

In your opinion, what is the role of a dramaturg?

A dramaturg supports the new play playwright by delving deeply into the world of the play. Sometimes deeper than the writer. They research information, ask questions about discrepancies, challenge contradictory information, try to find connections. Since the dramaturg looks at the play from the outside, they can often see things that the playwright can’t. They also connect the creative team with research, facts and interesting information relevant to the play.
