As a writer who often writes book, music, and lyrics myself, the DGF Fellows program encouraged the idea that three elements can really blend into each other, always in service of telling the clearest story with a unified voice. Having musical theatre writers and playwrights in the same group reinforced this idea even further. And the chance to spend an extended amount of time discussing and dissecting the true nitty gritty craft of writing with some of the greatest voices working in the American musical theatre today is an experience unlike any other. Come on, what more could you want?

Zack Zadek

is a composer/lyricist, playwright and songwriter with Warner/ Chappell. Zack has been named by Playbill as “A Contemporary Musical Theatre Songwriter You Should Know,” is a two-time MacDowell Fellow and VCCA Fellow and is a 2019 DGF Fellow. He won the Weston New Musical Award for his book, music, and lyrics to Deathless (dir. Tina Landau), which was produced at Goodspeed Musicals in 2017. Upcoming projects include Store Brand (dir. Jaki Bradley), which is being produced by The Civilians and current commissions from Mike Bosner Productions, Jill Furman Productions, Arena Stage, and Ars Nova. He is currently a writer-in-residence with The Civilians, The Orchard Project Greenhouse and Ars Nova.
