DG Glossary: Future Option
Afuture option is an option granted to a producer to produce the play in another market and/or specified territory after the initial contracted run has closed.
In addition to subsidiary rights, a producer who is producing your world premiere may ask for certain future options to produce the work after the close of performances. For example, a LORT or off-Broadway producer may ask for a future option to produce the play as a First-Class production (e.g., Broadway or the West End).
