October marks my first anniversary as Regional Rep in Austin/San Antonio, and Year One has been a helluva ride. We have mounted four big events, started playwriting groups in each city in our region – which also fosters community outreach with new theatres; I meet monthly with DG HQ and other Reps via Zoom; and this is my third article for The Dramatist. It is from this perspective, with more experience in the driver’s seat, that I approach The Coping Issue because with new responsibilities come new problems: How do I do my job well, while encouraging others to take more ownership of planning and implementing regional events and still find time to write and submit my own plays?
