Austin/ San Antonio: Conversation with Kate Meehan
Austin San Antonio, by Rita Anderson
B. Iden Payne Arts Council 2019

In theatre, it is said that we must wear “a lot of hats,” and the adage has borne out in my experience. I am the new DG Regional Rep in Austin/San Antonio, but I’ve also had the honor of working with the governing theatre bodies in both cities that I serve. In San Antonio, I was on the Alamo Theatre Arts Council (ATAC) and, for the last two years, I’ve been a member of Austin’s B. Iden Payne Arts Council (BIPAC). Keeping in mind the DG’s recent request from reps to engage with theatre organizations in our region to start a dialogue and to foster new relationships, I’m here with Kate Meehan to discuss BIPAC, one of Austin’s most influential theatre organizations and, so, a great place to start!
