As I look back on the past season, I realize that some of the most ambitious and innovative work is coming out of our local writers’ groups. One group that formed during the COVID pandemic was TERTULIA, a theatre initiative specifically for Black playwrights founded by SM Shephard-Massat (Sherry). I reached out to Sherry to learn about her experience starting TERTULIA.
