This edition of The Dramatist is all about musical theatre! Special roundtables include a conversation led by Christine Toy Johnson (with Hunter Bell, Bob Martin, and Benjamin Scheuer) on what it's like to both write and perform musical theatre, a discussion on collaboration moderated by Andrew Lippa (with songwriting teams Lynn Ahrens/Stephen Flaherty, Nancy Ford/ Gretchen Cryer, and Sara Wordsworth/Russ Kaplan), and an examination of what it's like to be a Composer/Lyricist, moderated by Mark Hollmann (with Kirsten Childs, Micki Grant, Peter Lerman, and Stephen Schwartz). In addition, Cheryl Coons writes about the ASCAP foundation's musical theatre mentorship program and Laurie Flanigan-Hegge describes the collaborations that occur at the Nautilus Music Theatre Composer/Librettists Studio. Also included in this issue is a profile of Lucy Simon, written by David Kirshenbaum.
THE DRAMATIST is made possible by funding from the Council of the Dramatists Guild of America, a generous gift from the JOHN LOGAN FOUNDATION through a grant from the Dramatists Guild Foundation, and contributions from Guild members LIKE YOU.
