Winter 2025

The Winter 2025 edition of the quarterly explores grief in its many forms—career grief, personal grief, collective grief, culturally-inherited grief—with contributions from a.k. payne, Luis Alfaro, Clarence Coo, C.A. Johnson, and more. In “Good Medicine,” Karen Hartman moderates a conversation with Julia Izumi, Nambi E. Kelley, and Sarah Ruhl.

Also in this issue, Liz Duffy Adams answers “Ten Questions,” Kirsten Childs and Larry Dean Harris offer some advice, and Cheryl Coons explains “Why I Joined the Guild.”

THE DRAMATIST is the official journal of the Dramatists Guild of America, the professional organization of playwrights, composers, lyricists, and librettists. It is made possible by funding from the Council of the Dramatists Guild of America, a generous gift from the JOHN LOGAN FOUNDATION through a grant from the Dramatists Guild Foundation, and contributions from Guild members LIKE YOU.

June Moss

is a figurative artist. She has shown in gallery and museum shows in the US, Europe, and Mexico. Splitting her time between Manhattan and Eldred, her work has been cited in art and architectural publications, a drawing textbook, and periodicals. Humorous and psychologically evocative, she paints animated dialogues between the self and the other. She honed her craft in the East Village in the 80s. The prints and drawings are monochromatic, her paintings and collage tend toward saturated color. The gestural marks of her figures work in concert with a dense surface and a sense of satire.
