    Wellspring House

    We are inclusive of all artists and scholars, regardless of genre and field, at all levels and career stages. Room rates vary. If your application is accepted, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total payment is required to hold your reservation. In 2017, Wellspring House established a fellowship designed to offer emerging writers the opportunity to live and work at the retreat for a year, and assist the Director in running the retreat.     The Writers’ Room of Boston

    The Writers' Room of Boston is an urban writers' retreat committed to providing a quiet, affordable, and secure workspace for emerging and established writers. Est 1988. $100/month membership fee. See website for details. Members can choose to meet regularly for readings, community gatherings and events. Periodic readings of the members' work are organized and open to the public. We are committed to supporting local writers of limited means through our annual Writers Fellowship Program, which gives four juried writers full access to the workspace for one year.

    Thoreau Writers Retreat

    The Thoreau birthplace Writers Retreat is the perfect country setting for writers who want uninterrupted concentration and a reprieve from urban stress. The lovingly restored and furnished second floor Thoreau birth room can be used for a $150 per day donation. Become a member of the Trust and the donation drops to $75 per day. Donations are used for the site’s upkeep and educational programming. Wifi and coffee are provided. Transportation, lodging, and meals are not included, but there are several lovely, historic inns and restaurants located nearby. The space is available Monday-Friday (no weekends) May-October, and seven days a week November-April.

    Byrdcliffe Monthly Residencies for Summer 2022

    Since 1902, Byrdcliffe has offered uninterrupted time and space for creatives in all disciplines with fully and partially funded residencies including at least one playwright per session and at least one full fellowship for a playwright annually. Our serene mountain community is 2.5 hours north of NYC in the mountains of Woodstock NY. Artists are invited to participate in optional programming or are free to work in solitude during their entire stay.     Waterman's Playwrights Retreats

    Waterman’s Community Center, located on the midcoast Maine island of North Haven, is delighted to offer three 10-day residential retreats to developing female playwrights in late winter and early spring 2020. Designed to encourage new voices in theater, the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation grant will offer selected candidates time to create in a unique and beautiful setting and connect with the community there, sharing the power of theatre to inspire. The residencies will include a private efficiency apartment, a separate writing space with internet access, travel expenses covered up to $250 and a stipend of $500.

    Native Voices Festival and Retreat

    Rogers Art Loft

    The Rogers Art Loft is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Situated in a valley, Las Vegas is surrounded by mountains on all sides and located on the basin floor of the Mojave Desert. The residency itself is in downtown Las Vegas on Bonneville Avenue near the Arts District, Fremont Experience, Neon Museum, and the Smith Center for Performing Arts. The living space, is uniquely situated in The Lucy complex; home to writers-in-residence from Black Mountain Institute, an independent bookstore: Writer’s Block, and other local Las Vegas writers, artists, and entrepreneurs.

    CineStory Foundation Retreat & Fellowship

    CineStory runs two retreats a year, one for screenwriters and one for TV writers. To be eligible to attend a retreat, writers must submit to one of our contests.
