The Santaliz Archive is an onstage experience I created from the archival papers I inherited from my uncle, Pedrito Santaliz. A dissident and the founder of El Nuevo Teatro Pobre de América (1963, NY), Pedrito Santaliz was a maker and defender of street theatre – theatre for the people.

A year ago, my wife and I packed our suitcases and made the life-changing decision to move to Puerto Rico. It felt right to be back, helping to rebuild the place that inspired me to become a playwright. I started writing plays when I could not ignore anymore my need to tell the story of Puerto Rico’s political injustice.
