    Paul Robeson Theatre

    The PRT periodically commissions out-of-town directors from other cities and collaborates with local companies that include the Irish Classical Theatre, Ujima Company, Inc., Shea’s Performing Arts Theatre and MusicalFare Theatre, among others.     Stageworks, Inc.

    Est. 1983. Stageworks is a professional theatre company in Tampa, FL. They have a script development group called Stagewrights that meets twice a month at Stageworks (with a summer break). Meetings are usually held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. At the first monthly meeting, playwrights bring up to ten pages of a script. Members read the scripts aloud and provide constructive feedback. At the second meeting actors perform a script-in-hand reading of a new play or one act of a play, with a talkback. Meetings are designed for playwrights to get feedback on new drafts as works develop.

    Yale Repertory Theatre

    Est. 1966. Yale Repertory Theatre accepts submissions of full-length plays, musicals, translations, and adaptations. All submissions are considered for productions at Yale Rep and for development opportunities with the Binger Center for New Theatre. Playwrights must submit their work either through established agents or by first sending a letter of inquiry, accompanied by a brief synopsis, cast breakdown, a ten-page dialogue sample, and a résumé. The Literary Office will review these materials and contact playwrights regarding Yale Rep's interest in reading a full manuscript. See website for details.

    The foundation of our company is “Pass It On.” During our tenure, we pass the baton of Lead Producing Playwright from artist-to-artist, giving each playwright the chance to navigate the company using their individual artistic vision. Each group of Welders produces one show by each member playwright then passes the company (from board to bank account) on to a new group of artists. That group will produce one show by each member playwright then pass the company on again to a new group of DC-area artists, creating what we hope to be an ever-evolving platform for new play development right here in DC.
