    The Fair Play Initiative

    Theatre Lab, the professional resident company of Florida Atlantic University (FAU), is now accepting applications for The Fair Play Initiative: a commission and development program for emerging LGBTQ+ playwrights. With support from Our Fund Foundation, The Fair Play Initiative will provide commissions for two new plays by emerging LGBTQ+ playwrights along with a week-long development process during the 2019-20 season, culminating in a publicly presented staged reading at Theatre Lab. The initial drafting process will be completed by August 2019. The plays will then be scheduled for a week-long development process, receiving no less than 20 hours of rehearsal before a reading for an audience.     PlayGround Solo Performance Festival

    PlayGround is the Bay Area’s leading playwright incubator, providing unique opportunities for the cultivation and development of early-career local playwrights and partnerships with leading professional directors, actors and theatres. Through the development of original short and full-length plays, PlayGround creates a microcosm of the greater theatre scene, supporting emerging playwrights’ experimentation and risk-taking, while helping them to hone their style and technique. The PlayGround Solo Performance Festival is PlayGround’s annual celebration of the best in California solo performance. Now going on its fourth year, the next Solo Fest will take place January 22-February 7, 2021 via Zoom live stream, with nine double-bill performances over three weeks.

    The Philly Cycle

    Over the next two years InterAct will commission three plays to be written about and with Philadelphia communities that are under-represented on local (and national) stages. The first of the three Philly Cycle commissions will focus on the city’s community of African American Muslims, which numbers around 200,000.     Thank you for your interest in Live & In Color’s June Bingham New Playwright Commission. This commission opportunity provides resources and support toward the creation and development of a new play by early-career women/femme and/or non-binary storytellers. This opportunity will culminate in a 60-90 min 2 person play that will be workshopped and presented as a reading for an audience. This workshop is anticipated for one week at the beginning of September 2023.
