African Caribbean Mixfest

Summary:Atlantic Theater Company will present African Caribbean MixFest, a series of free readings that will run virtually Tuesday, January 19 through Friday, January 29.
This winter, Atlantic will be presenting readings of full-length plays by France- Luce Benson, Guadalís Del Carmen, and Kwame Kwei -Armah as well as short plays by Jasmine Lee-Jones and Whitney White. Additionally, Atlantic Theater Company will commission Julissa Contreras, Dane Figueroa Edidi, and Patrice Johnson Chevannes to create short one-acts and present them as readings alongside a short play by Jeff Augustin for this year’s African Caribbean MixFest.

Summary:The Making of Medea's Medea is a mockumentary satire that documents Medea's recent stage play, her modern-day retelling of her ancient story of revenge. We meet Medea, Jason, and the actors who play them. The show seems destined for Broadway until bodies start to fall. This is a one-act version, about 35 minutes, appearing as part of Digital Dionysia, a ten-week Zoom series of plays inspired by Greek mythology. Playing together with The Oracle Cassandra by Amanda Beveridge, directed by James Peter Sotis.
