The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

  • The Catskills Creative Residency invites two playwrights for a fully funded week-long stay in the Sullivan County Catskills of upstate New York. The residency includes accommodations in a lovely two-bedroom home in Livingston Manor, NY. Each playwright receives a $200 travel and food stipend. Playwrights collaborate with director Eugenia Manwelyan and Catskills-based actors to workshop their plays.     The Playwrights Cohort at PlayPenn will be a year-long professional development program open to emerging Philadelphia playwrights and will focus on navigating the industry. Every month experts in their sector will engage the cohort on subjects such as entertainment law, building a portfolio, finding representation, having agency in the rehearsal room, managing personal finances and more.
