dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

The organization accomplishes this via three main initiatives: full-length operas presented at innovative and daring venues, newly arranged and adapted children’s operas (Camerata Piccola), and originally commissioned short operatic films for presentation online (CamerataWorks). It is through these multi-...

Weekly workshops helmed by Emma Goldman Sherman are held in the theatre district in Midtown from 2 pm-6pm. Writing individually in a group is very helpful because we learn to push through blocks that can trip us up at home. Because everyone else in the room is writing, the pressure to continue helps us learn to push ourselves, and that habit can teach us that we usually can go further than we think we can, and we are often grateful for that little extra push! When we return home, we are able to work better, for longer periods, with greater focus. Writers do not share what was just written...

The Playwriting Collective is a playwright-driven initiative to support voices from lower economic backgrounds. We put the playwright first and seek out writers as well as stories, narratives, and characters that shine a light on the current state of America’s lower class. The work we cultivate is transmedia and we encourage our artists to indulge their imaginations. From vast multimedia spectacle, to puppetry, to audience participation… we want to uplift people artistically and socially through stories armed with all the weapons of modern stagecraft.
