dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Originally known as The John Montgomery Theatre Company, the company was founded in London by the late great actor and producer, Patrick Hillan, who named the company after his father, the late great John Montgomery Hillan, who encouraged Patrick (then called Neil), while all secondary school advisors had much more limited ideas, to attend to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London - which he did. Patrick’s early vision of the company included ambitious and diverse repertory seasons featuring both classics and original works and the creation of a unique white box theatre in...

About 365… This international playwriting project involves over 300 playwrights who have signed on to write one or more one-acts about extraordinary women in both past and present history. The project’s ambitious yet focused goal is to write women back into the social consciousness as well as empower and promote female playwrights around the world. What seemed like an unattainable goal became a reality when Jess Eisenberg decided that she couldn’t do a project this size alone. She brought on her dear friend, Gina Scanlon, and together they began to write. After some small scale calls for...

  • The Coterie creates new works of music theater that feature sophisticated scores and narratives that speak to a contemporary audience. Eager to cultivate an operatic vernacular for the 21st century, The Coterie does not shy away from amplification, provocative subject matter, or popular musical influence: the projects are classical music hybrids that often graft rock, pop, jazz, musical theater, and folk strands into their D.N.A.
