dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Today, like every day, theatre is more essential than ever – we need it to prod, object, question, surprise, comfort, scare, and confront. We need it so we can practice mono-tasking. We need it so we can create communitas. We need it as an exercise in creativity for everyone who partakes. Not just any theatre will do, of course. When theatre is set on a stage, in a living room, with a couch, and is about white people dealing with death or family secrets, and was written by a dead white guy, I say to it: “Very well, then, but you’re going to have to prove yourself to me; you know that, right...

Queering the canon We are inspired by the craftsmanship of the great American theatre-makers of the 20th century, but not satisfied that their canon reflects our contemporary cultural experience. It is our mission, therefore, to create theatre that queers tradition, and allows new stories to unfold inside old structures. We hope our audience will find themselves reflected in this renovation of a tradition that has often left their stories untold. The Renovationists are a new-play development ensemble founded by playwright Else C. Went (current member, Emerging Writer’s Group; Public...
