dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Simply put we love creating original works that are influenced by our environment and are physically expressed through extraordinary characterizations. When chewing on a new creation we make sure certain ingredients are present: IT HAS TO BE… Physical… We are Masterbiters. We’ve borrowed from the greats. From Suzuki to Freedom Factory, Viewpoints to Laban, Chakras and Animal exercises, we’ve studied them all, grabbed what we have liked, and funneled it into our own technique when developing a character and telling a story, physicality being the spring in our board. Original… We have...

Rapid relief grants of up to $500 will be awarded to support our community, prioritizing the consortium of companies, venues, and individuals working in NYC independent theater (Off-Off-Broadway in theater houses of 99 seats or less), operating with budgets under $250,000. We will award grants on an on-going basis until our funds run out. Grants can be requested via a simple online application and will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis. We will do our best to turn these around quickly. Grantees will be asked to give a short report about the use of funds.

The Artist Commissioning Program (ACP) democratizes the traditional commissioning progress by enabling local community members, or “art commissioners,” to fill gaps in American culture by awarding commissions to Queens artists. The 2021-22 ACP will fund choreographers, dance artists, and small dance organizations to tell untold stories that highlight underrepresented protagonists. By commissioning artists to materialize works that resonate with Queens communities, the ACP aims to create a cultural sector more reflective of the diversity of the borough and the nation.

Our mission is to provide Queens-based theater artists with a home for new play development, as well as to serve the residents of the borough by providing free or low-cost theatrical events. We believe strongly in developing a network of artists through cultivating local talent, and by fostering collaborations and relationships through developmental labs, classes, and social events. We believe that Queens is a premier destination for the arts in New York City, and we hope to highlight the rich community of diverse, talented, and underrepresented voices in the borough.
  • Submissions are now being accepted for the Fifth Avenue Theatre of New York Virtual Fall 2020 Play Festival, to take place in November 2020. Seeking short plays (no more than 10 pp/minutes), from playwrights from across New York City and surrounding areas.

We initially started RoaN Productions to create more roles for women in front and behind the scenes in both film and theater, but it has become more than that. It's about giving women a voice and an equal place in shaping humanity. Because if you want something to change, you have to be willing to be a part of that change. RoaN Productions produces works that challenge, inspire, and entertain audiences through its reverence for language, spirit of adventure, and through the staging of unique and unparalleled new works and classics. Our artistic policy includes: a feminine perspective, a...
