The Lucille Lortel Theatre's NYC Public High School Playwriting Fellowship supports diverse young writers and create an awareness of playwriting as a career. The opportunities provided by this program will encourage NYC public high school students to become the next generation of playwrights. The Fellowship is open to any high school student who is currently enrolled in and attending public high school in one of the five boroughs of New York City at the time of entry.

IEst. 1986. IRT is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. IRT Theater is focused in two primary areas. First, IRT fosters independent artists by providing space, support, and most important, time to create their work through its Archive Residency and 3B Development Series, in which there are several residencies reserved for Deaf artists. Second, IRT mentors the next generation of theater artists through its educational program.

“Me and Black Lives Matter” mini-grant is supported in part by Horace Barker and The Battin Foundation. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater recognizes how important it is for young theater-makers to actively create theatrical works in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. To inspire and support this creative process, Rattlestick invites young writers up to 21 years old to submit a piece of theatrical writing of 3 to 5 minutes duration (if read out loud).
