dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

The winner will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize...

Each June, we produce the 12 best plays by playwrights ages 9 to 19, chosen from a nationwide competition. In the past 30 years, we have produced 369 plays by these young writers. Nowhere else in the nation can young playwrights receive the prize of seeing their vision come to life on stage in a professional production featuring known actors from film, television and theatre. YPF plays a critical role in training and supporting the next generation of theatre artists. Many of these playwrights have gone on to successful writing careers in and out of the theatre. As we say in our curtain...

The Lab is intended to help playwrights by providing initial readings of new plays which have reached that stage of development where hearing them out loud, with professional actors reading the roles, is the most logical, helpful next step. A moderated post-reading discussion helps the playwright focus on what works, what doesn’t, and where the play needs to go from that point.
  • An innovator in pop culture, writer/director, Garry Marshall believed that live, shared storytelling was one of the greatest human experiences. Now part of his legacy, the nonprofit space is aptly called the Garry Marshall Theatre. We are a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating community.
