Lilith Theater, the Bay Area’s internationally renowned women’s theater of the 1970s and 1980s, was founded in Berkeley, California in 1974, by Terry Baum, Charlotte Colavin, and Shelley Fields and Carolyn Meyers.

Est. 1972. ShadowLight Productions is invested in exposing the general public to the art of Shadow Theater. The means of providing such exposure includes but is not limited to live theater, film, and other media. We strive to help preserve indigenous shadow theater traditions, and to explore and expand the possibilities of the shadow theatre medium by creating innovative interdisciplinary, multicultural works.

The vision continues to evolve, most recently with the opening of a new theater in the Gaia Building in Berkeley’s thriving art district and in its developing relationships with other Bay Area theaters to present Marsh productions which include the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa, the Dance Palace in Point Reyes, and the Sonoma Community Center. We produce traditional and new works of East-West fusion primarily based on Noh and Kyogen. Our plays tend to incorporate music and dance and as such we prefer short poetic scripts with minimal dialogue.
