The VORTEX creates and presents new, innovative performances—world premiere plays, operas, musicals, ritual theatre, and devised collaborations. The VORTEX transgresses conventional theatrical forms with multidisciplinary performances from diverse traditions. Music, film, dance, opera, aerial arts, puppetry, and performance art contribute to our vibrant theatre. We are an artist-owned and operated theater and have produced over 350 productions. We are proud to have always engaged in non-traditional casting.

Inspired by the power of the arts to change lives, the Austin Theatre Alliance strives to engage all Central Texans through extraordinary live performances and films, to ignite the intellect and imagination of our youth, and to ensure the preservation of the crown jewels of downtown Austin. The Austin Theatre Alliance is the 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that manages the Paramount and Stateside Theatres.

Color Arc Productions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts corporation based in Austin, Texas whose mission is to shine light on diverse stories through theatre, film, and music.

Mélange Theatre Company (MTC) produces work that addresses gender parity; whereas most theatres only have a 17% female playwright representation, MTC produces ONLY new works by local female+ playwrights (to include LGBTQIA and non-binary voices). We are female+ playwrights, directors, actors, and designers creating theatre with an inclusive feminist perspective that is for all theatregoers.

We make the invisible visible through bold, socially relevant, body-centered theatre. Our approach is physical and experimental — delving into aesthetics and rehearsal that are innovative and new both locally and nationally. We showcase the work and stories of primarily queer-identified women of color.

Southwest Theatre Productions (SWTP) is a philanthropic theatre company, founded by original members Jan Wallace Phillips, Kat Sparks, and Maureen Slabaugh. A portion of the proceeds from several of our shows per year go to charity and fundraising organizations, and every show donates tickets to Veterans through Heroes Night Out, F7 Group, and Veteran Tickets Foundation (VetTix).

Est. 2004. In addition to producing plays by, about, and for women, we also hold informal salons, readings, and workshops where we explore women's issues and celebrate women's work.

The Heartland Theatre Collective tells rich, powerful stories of Texan women of the past, present, and future that features female artists working in Austin. Our plays are poetic, visceral, and revitalize sustainable theatre practices in our community. The Heartland Theatre Collective enriches the lives of Austin audiences and artists by creating simple yet theatrical performances that generate transformative moments for all who participate in and experience our plays.
