dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Through the development of original short and full-length plays, PlayGround creates a microcosm of the greater theatre scene, supporting emerging playwrights’ experimentation and risk-taking, while helping them to hone their style and technique.
  • The fulcrum of our mission currently rests in our weekly Monday night workshop where we develop the work from our writers. Our structure is such that it evolves as we do. Just like our own artistic development, our process is ever-changing and always improving. Alongside the Monday night workshop, our membership participates in special programs to engage as a community and further their personal artistic goals. Master classes, development weekends and other career-focused events give Fierce artists the extra space to concentrate on the becoming a better artist through experiences. Projects...

Each June, we produce the 12 best plays by playwrights ages 9 to 19, chosen from a nationwide competition. In the past 30 years, we have produced 369 plays by these young writers. Nowhere else in the nation can young playwrights receive the prize of seeing their vision come to life on stage in a professional production featuring known actors from film, television and theatre. YPF plays a critical role in training and supporting the next generation of theatre artists. Many of these playwrights have gone on to successful writing careers in and out of the theatre. As we say in our curtain...
