FORGE Fellowship for Makers

New York, NY

Dramatists Guild members are welcome to apply to FORGE NYC's new, year-long fellowship program, Fellowship for Makers.

FORGE NYC believes that how you work matters just as much as why you create and what you want to make. Fellowship recipients will be invited to spend a year (from February 2021 through January 2022) digging in, getting curious, and defining success. You'll learn to articulate your work to fellow innovators, concoct creative solutions to today’s conundrums, and retrofit your process with guidance from FORGE NYC and leaders in your field. You bring the spark. We'll light the FORGE.

FORGE NYC is an arts consultancy dedicated to helping artists and makers take the next steps with their work. They specialize in long term strategic planning, financial literacy, and creating sustainable systems and practices with creatives. They also offer creative resources such as retreats and residencies out of a newly renovated Red Barn in Danbury, CT, as well as workshops, and pop-up workspaces (currently on zoom). For more information, visit www.forgenyc.org.

The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Every month (mostly), we pick a featured playwright whose work we love. Then we curate a rotating group of resident and guest directors who in turn collaborate with the talents of the actors of their choice. Individually, each group rehearses and interprets one short work of a featured playwright before then all coming together to form that month's PLAYxPLAY. The series offers an audience the rare opportunity to see a wide range of a single writer's voice in one evening, while simultaneously offering the playwright the chance to see a variety of interpretations of their work by an array of...
