The Ensemble Playwright Lab (EPL) is a residency program in which the playwright engages with Letter of Marque's (LOM) ensemble to create, develop, or reimagine a piece of work; which will be presented to the public at the end of the residency. There will be two residencies: Fall & Winter. Two playwrights, one for each residency, will be selected to work with our ensemble once a week, for a total of 21 hours of collaboration and discovery. The New York Deaf Theatre, LTD (NYDT) was established in 1979 by a group of Deaf actors and theatre artists who wanted to create opportunities for the production of a dramatic art form that was not found elsewhere in New York City: plays in American Sign Language (ASL). A nonprofit, professional theatre, NYDT is the longest running company of its kind in the greater New York City area and the third oldest Deaf Theatre company in America.
