The Firehouse is committed to the development of new work. This festival fosters the growth of New England playwrights while showcasing the talent of local and regional actors and directors. New England playwrights submit their 10-minute, one-act, and full-length plays to an independent panel who select the festival’s shows in anonymous readings. Directors and their casts then work with selected playwrights to produce two weekends of theater.

JAC Publishing & Promotions (JAC) began publishing over 30 years ago. In 1995, we dedicated our efforts almost entirely toward publishing New England Entertainment Digest (NEED), an arts & entertainment monthly covering the arts in New England and New York. With NEED now an online resource and no longer a print publication, JAC ventured into another area where it can support the arts - publishing scripts and arts-related books!

The Umbrella Arts Center offers a wide variety of in-person and online arts education instruction for adults, teens, and youth, as well as a summer camp and vacation week programs. In respnonse to distance learning we created The Umbrella @ Home program to deliver quality arts instruction virtually. We are constantly working with our teachers to adapt and design new opportunities to continue to learn, socialize, and experiment with the arts.

The Woodward Prize is part of Cultural Stages: The Woodward International Drama and Dance Initiative and is given once every four years. The aim of this program is to broaden and deepen the understanding of international cultures through a competition for plays addressing relevant themes. Plays submitted for this competition should have a primary focus on cultures from countries other than the US. We welcome DG members to submit their work for consideration. Writing is often an isolating experience. That’s why it can be helpful to meet with others who share your writing interests to exchange ideas and resources. Since 1984, the Monadnock Writers’ Group has provided fellowship and support to writers in all genres and at all levels of achievement. Our free monthly speaker series brings a variety of accomplished writers to Peterborough to share their experiences and expertise with members. These speakers address a range of genres—fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, blogging and more—from research and planning through publishing.
