Resource Directory Logo
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Member writers read and discuss a specific play by George Bernard Shaw before responding to Shaw’s work through targeted writing prompts. The writers’ new works needn’t be commentaries on Shaw or adaptations of Shaw’s work, but original works inspired by the ideas sparked by reading and discussing the initial Shaw play as a cohort. Speakers’ Corner writers then spend the remainder of the year developing these ideas into plays to be developed through readings and workshop labs. At monthly and bi-monthly meetings, writers share their work and receive constructive feedback from one another and...

So the format for both process and presentation is intentionally malleable. Each public presentation of these works in progress is the culmination of a few hours, a few weeks, or even a few months of rehearsal, depending on what each project requires. These readings are hosted in an environment that appropriately celebrate that particular...
