dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Theater artists in all parts of our industry are questioning with a renewed intensity not only the ways we write plays but how we teach playwriting. The murder of George Floyd, coupled with a global pandemic, the devastating effects of climate change, continuing environmental injustices again Indigenous peoples and landscapes, and growing nativist movements across the US revealed how theatre and theatre educational institutions are failing the demand for new approaches.

Since 1985, we’ve presented interactive comedy-mysteries for companies, theatres, and other groups. These were so successful and popular that we made our scripts available to theatres, schools, and other mystery-lovers. To date, over 1,500 groups around the world have used Moushey scripts and production packages to produce their own mysteries. Whether you want to present a mystery fund-raiser, dinner theatre production, special event, or ‘regular’ performance, you’ve come to the right place for scripts and production help.
  • We are a group of theater artists and companies joining forces during the pandemic to produce mail-based theatrical experiences. Many of us first met in the summer of 2020 in the Orchard Project’s international digital think-tank, the Liveness Lab. We wondered if analog mediums could offer a sense of tactile connection to far-flung audiences in this time of isolation and screen fatigue. Pittsburgh company RealTime Interventions conceived and coordinated this "national wave" of projects, and Post Theatrical was born. Wildly varied in form, content, and duration, these experiences have been...

  • In March 2020 a bunch of theaters* were producing plays, business as usual, when a global pandemic had other plans. Prioritizing the safety of their communities, they made difficult decisions to cease or postpone programming for the remainder of their seasons. But the story doesn’t end there. With a spirit of resilience, adaptation, and invitation, they came together to create the Play At Home project, a series of short plays commissioned specifically for this moment of unprecedented isolation to inspire joy and connection for all.
  • The Peale is a home for authentic Baltimore stories, based in the oldest museum building in the country, opened in 1814 by artist Rembrandt Peale. We work with local creators – storytellers, griots, performers, artists, architects, historians, students, educators, and other culture-keepers – to produce and share their narratives of the city, its places, and the diverse people who have made Baltimore what it is today. By creating a more inclusive cultural record of the city, we aim to help people everywhere see Baltimore in a new light. In the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of the Peale...
