The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

    The first residency in the United States exclusively for artists identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, is now accepting applications for its prestigious and internationally recognized summer program. Situated in the secluded community of Cherry Grove, NY, an historic LGBTQ settlement of Fire Island, five emerging visual artists and poets will share a live/work space for a four-week program marked by intimate studio visits with, and public lectures by, renowned leaders in contemporary art and curation. FIAR provides lodging, studio space, and a stipend for all meals.

    Est. 2012, it is the only program in the country that is dedicated to black playwrights, whose work demonstrates exceptional artistic merit and excellence in the theatrical field, with a commitment to a production. Alongside NBT’s Artistic Director, the selected playwright (s) will develop a new play during the eighteen (18) month residency. The program provides the playwright with a stipend, administrative and dramaturgical support, in-house readings, and two 29-hour workshops.
