dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

  • Annex Theatre is a democratic collective of theatre artists dedicated to creating bold new work in an environment of improbability, resourcefulness, and risk. Annex annually produces 5 world-premiere plays by living playwrights and helmed by local directors, ranging from radical reinterpretations of classic scripts and ensemble-generated devised spectacles to dynamic solo performances and evocatively relevant plays. All productions are chosen by the Annex company through a process of proposals, interviews, frenzied argument, and final consensus. Annex also produces a monthly late-night...

The 5th Avenue Theatre is one of America's leading musical theater companies. We enrich the community we love with the art form we love—giving the Pacific Northwest a front-row seat to original powerhouse productions that go on to light up marquees and audiences all the way to Broadway. From the page to the stage, we bring passion and epic scale to every musical we create. With big talent. Bigger-than-life productions. And did we mention dazzle? As a nonprofit theatre company and our region's largest performing arts employer, we spread the joy of great musicals with people of all ages across...
  • The Mahogany Project began in June 2006, when seven African-American female artists came together from various disciplines including spoken word, playwriting, vocal performance, and arts administration. Realizing that there weren't many opportunities in the Arts for African-American women, they decided to develop a project that would create more opportunities for them. The women of The Mahogany Project committed to collaborating in hopes of creating opportunities for local Seattle theatre artists.

Red Rover is a scrappy theatre company launched in Seattle in 2016 by two veteran playwrights, John C. Davenport and Duane Kelly. Frustrated with the limited production opportunities for new plays, they decided to take charge and put up their own work. The company's inaugural production, staged October 2016, was John’s play Red Rover (from which the name for their company was shamelessly stolen). Duane's new play Das Ende, produced March 2017, was the second presentation. Third up was Duane's Visiting Cezanne in March 2018, followed by John's Asylum in Georgia in February 2020. The plan is to...
