A state and national landmark, the Attucks Theatre is distinguished as the oldest remaining legitimate theatre in the nation that was completely financed, designed, constructed and operated by African Americans. In its heyday, the theatre was the focal point of entertainment, business, and racial pride in Norfolk's African American community.

Virginia Opera Association, Inc., in its 46th year of operation, is known and respected nationwide for the identification and presentation of the finest young artists, for the musical and dramatic integrity of its productions, and for the ingenuity and variety of its education and outreach programs.

Firehouse Theatre develops and produces new work that expands the definition of theatre and explores non-linear and non-naturalistic narrative.

The Arts Center’s community theatre has been a part of the Rocky Mount community for more than 50 years. The Theatre offers a wide variety of productions, including comedies, dramas, musicals, and children’s theatre, and relies on volunteers to continue its tradition of success.

To educate, entertain, and enrich our community by producing quality theater and performing arts programs that are diverse and inclusive.

Synetic produces four to five mainstage productions and two to three family series productions per season, while also running an educational studio for children and adults, conducting community outreach programs, and touring family and mainstage productions, reaching over 36,000 patrons annually.

The REACH is a place where visitors, audiences, and artists can come together for collaboration, experimentation, and exploration in the spirit of President Kennedy’s vision for a new frontier for the arts.
