Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University creates inter-generational and multicultural productions that provide a shared experience for the whole family. Our productions celebrate the diverse range of families found in the world today and seek to unite them in the shared experience of live theatre. We are dedicated to those who are historically under-served: people of color, people with disabilities, and low-income families. We know that it is not only children who are “at risk” in our society — but entire families and communities.

Established in 1974, the Lyric Stage is Boston’s oldest resident theatre company, producing a seven-show season which ranges in theatrical genres including classic Broadway-style musicals, new plays and established classics.

SpeakEasy produces intimate, entertaining plays and musicals that are new to Boston and compel thoughtful conversation. The Boston Project is a new works initiative that supports the creation and development of new plays set in Boston, which explore what it means to live in this city at this moment and tap into the full breadth of experiences and identities that make up life in the Hub.

Through a combination of personalized dramaturgy, group workshops, and professional development classes — featuring a roster of locally and nationally recognized artistic leaders — Company One Theatre’s PlayLab is an incubator of new work for writers of varied experience levels and backgrounds. Over its six seasons, C1 PlayLab has provided a multiplicity of dramaturgical support models for more than 40 playwrights, all with the goal of supporting Boston’s diverse artistic field.

Sleeping Weazel productions combine bold, experimental style with social justice ideals. Celebrating the ridiculous, the sublime, and the earth-shattering, our aim is to cross the boundaries of popular and high art, and to collaborate with artists of different generations and cultures, working in various genres. The company motto, “Making Different Possible,” means we dream awake with our audiences in Boston, and together we make life-changing art.
