dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

  • Playwrights Welcome is a new program developed for Dramatists Guild of America Members by Samuel French along with Dramatists Play Service, Dramatic Publishing, Music Theatre International, Playscripts and Rodgers and Hammerstein. The goal is simple: to provide free access to theater for playwrights, composers and lyricists. We are invested in the success and artistic health of our industry’s writers, and by extension the vibrancy of the American theater. We’re also aware that attending theater is an integral part to how writers learn their craft and grow as artists.

Founded by Mara Richards Bim, Cry Havoc seeks to fill a gap in the theater community in Dallas. Too often, the training offered to young people means basic-level classes with no differentiation between the novice and the experienced student. The material young people are given to work with is, more often than not, simplistic or condescending. And, while numerous “pay to play” performance options exist, there is a scarcity of opportunity for students to be cast purely on their talent rather than on their ability to pay.

Currently, Deep Vellum Books carries more than two thousand books in inventory across ninety-four independent publishers. Our goal is to reach 3,000 books across 120 unique independent publishers from around the globe. We carry a wide variety of books across a plethora of topics, and focus on a tightly curated global selection of inventory. We categorize our books by publisher, not by genre, to reflect the voice a publisher has in the process of bringing an author - and book - to life.
