The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

Athena began with a series of Plays In Progress – six brand new plays by women playwrights, three local and three from elsewhere in the US. March was selected as Athena...

This Series is an opportunity for new plays to be developed in one of three models: concert or table readings, and our workshops. Rehearsals and presentation will take place in Denver at a location to be determined over the course of approximately March-April 2020. Three to six new plays will be selected based on a blind submission process and...

  • Butterfly Effect Theatre Company presents profound theatrical stories that inspire our audiences and enrich our community. Each season, BETC selects one playwright through a national competition to join us in Boulder for a one-week residency. During the residency week, the playwright works with a professional director, dramaturg, and actors to develop the selected script. The week concludes with a public reading and post-reading conversation. BETC takes pleasure in supporting our parent playwright residents’ writing careers post-residency, and advocating for production of their plays...

The Millibo Art Theatre (originally the Manitou Art Theatre) was founded in 2001 by Jim Jackson and Birgitta De Pree to provide new and original live performances in an intimate, accessible theatre for audiences of all ages in the Pikes Peak region. Having performed extensively internationally and throughout the U.S., Jim Jackson and Birgitta De Pree had experienced many successful theatre models in action. They recognized the powerful impact new work can have on a community as it engages audiences in relevant dialogue, challenges and supports artists in the creation of new work and invites...
