Liberation Theatre Company is a home for creative emerging black playwrights, providing resources to develop their work, nurturing and inviting them to express themselves in a supportive and focused environment. LTC brings together actors, directors, and playwrights to allow playwrights the room to learn and grow, culminating in their finest work, ready for production.

Founded in 2010, Harlem9 is a collaborative producing organization, comprised of a group Black theatre professionals from various backgrounds. Our mission is to produce together, exploring the past, present and future of black culture, celebrating its rich and diverse history of storytelling.

The DREAMing Out Loud Program at PEN America is a paid, tuition-free creative writing workshop series for young immigrant writers primarily those who are undocumented, DACA recipients, and/or DREAMers who came to the U.S. when they were children. By providing community and professional support to the next generation of immigrant writers, the program seeks to counter anti-immigrant sentiment in the U.S. and to amplify the voices of many living in this country who are marginalized because of their immigration status. Our mission is to foster and This Spring, National Queer Theater and the Dramatists Guild are launching the New Visions Fellowship, an innovative new program for Black trans and gender nonconforming playwrights. The Movement Theatre Company creates an artistic social movement by developing and producing new work by artists of color. Our work engages audiences in a rich theatrical dialogue, enlightens communities to the important issues affecting our world, and empowers artists to celebrate the many sides of their unique voice. We create brave spaces for artists of color to discover and unleash their most authentic selves and tell complex stories of both the everyday and the extraordinary. Through our work we refuel, affirm, and celebrate the triumph of our resilience as artists.

Roust is dedicated to radical and epoch making theatre. We always aim to challenge and inspire an audience. We firmly believe that theatre is a lot more than just entertainment, theatre can and does make a difference in the world. We are interested in works with a strong focus on social change and narratives that have been traditionally underrepresented in mass media. We accept new, previously unproduced plays from both literary agents and directly from playwrights as unsolicited manuscripts, with some limitations. 'Unproduced' means not previously seen on a stage in a professional capacity...

Est. 1968, NBT is is among the oldest black Theaters in the country, and amongst the longest owned and operated by a woman of color. NBT is also a pioneer as the first to establish revenue generating black art complex.

The HRT is committed to fulfilling Langston Hughes’ 1938 vision for a professional theatre in Harlem: "...On the opening night... a beaming Langston renew(ed) his promise of a Harlem repertory theatre: 'We want to build a theatre for you folks, a theatre for which you may write, in which you may act.
