dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

The Woodcock Fund provides emergency funding to professional Canadian writers in mid-project who are facing an unforeseen financial need that threatens the completion of their book, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency. (The program does not consider requests for chronic situations or project funding; nor can it consider situations resulting from general indebtedness or lack of employment.) See website for details.

The Max’s Kansas Project embraces the philosophy of Mickey Ruskin, the creator of Max’s Kansas City, and was established in his memory in 2001. The foundation for the Max’s Kansas Project was laid when Mickey Ruskin opened the doors to the legendary restaurant/bar/club in New York City on December 6, 1965. He was a true patron of the arts who provided a refuge, a home-away-from-home for everybody who was anybody in the arts, many of whom are now famous. Since Max’s was known to cross boundaries of generations, to connect the old with the new and embrace the youth of the future as well as...

  • As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to keep the event of live, in-person theater unsafe, Playwrights Horizons has made the difficult decision to remain dark until our community can safely gather again. To help alleviate this hardship, Playwrights Horizons has created The Artists' Relief Fund, awarding $1,000 relief grants to 135 theater practitioners. 50% of all funds raised by Playwrights Horizons between Giving Tuesday...

  • For so many, the uncertainty and challenges of this year have had a severe impact on not only physical health, but mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic has drawn global attention to the importance of mental wellness. In DGF's conversations with dramatists during this time, we understand that financial restrictions have made prioritizing mental health and wellness out of reach for many. The Steven Schwartzberg Grants will provide writers $1,000 towards mental health services through Advekit, an online therapy platform. This is the first mental health and wellness program through DGF, as we...
